Though we are desirous of all students reaching this level, this is what we consider the deepest and truest level of a student who is pursuing their walk with Christ. When a student moves from initial questions and application of faith achieved on a Wednesday night, and through the deeper questions of life application in small groups, the finally arrive at self reflection, where they are asking the hardest questions about themselves, their walk with Christ, and their walk with others. It is here that Adult Mentoring becomes so important, because a person needs someone else who has “been there” to tell them what to look out for and also to provide them the wisdom of a longer life lived in Christ.  This is also where Peer Accountability becomes so important as well., because a student will regularly find themselves challenged and frustrated in a world that does not accept their faith.  A Peer Accountability partner is a fellow, same-gendered, and trusted student, whom the student has a strong friendship with, enough so, that they will accept “truth” in all it’s forms for their growth and betterment.

We would love to have every student in our youth ministry in one or both of these relationships, but we recognize some are not ready for this step. Our hopes are that they will want and desire a higher standard in their personal walk and crave accountability to that standard. We help by finding appropriate adult mentors to work with the students when requested, equipping them with resources, training, and becoming a sounding board for questions that arise.
